Fees & Charges Explained

Page Content

Course fees are made up of three components:

  • Tuition - Charged as an hourly rate that varies from course to course. A large portion of the tuition is subsidised by the Victorian Government for eligible students.
  • Student amenities - Directly contributes to the costs of providing student services and amenities and is applicable to all students.
  • Resource or materials fees - Covers the cost of materials and other incidentals. This fee will vary according to the course being undertaken.

Due to the different level of Government subsidy available to students, there are three possible fee levels for tuition fees:

  • Concession - Concession fees are substantially reduced as they include the maximum government subsidy. If you meet all eligibility criteria* and hold a current healthcare or pension card, you may be eligible to receive a fee concession.
  • Standard - Standard fees are slightly reduced as they include the minimum government subsidy. If you meet all eligibility criteria* but do not hold a current healthcare or pension card, you will pay the standard fee rate.
  • Full fee - Full fee paying students are known as Fee for service. FFS is applicable to students who do not meet the eligibility criteria* and all international students. FFS is also applicable if a course is non-accredited; this happens when courses are specially developed to meet industry or community needs.

*Eligibility Criteria

Whether you are eligible for government subsidised tuition fees is determined by your individual circumstances such as how old you are, what level of education you have and what type of course you wish to study. The Gordon’s Customer Service staff can help you determine your eligibility and discuss your options if you are ineligible.
