Marriage Celebrants

Page Content

Being a celebrant is an extraordinary privilege.  In a very short space of time, celebrants are invited to become a part of a community of family and friends during a very special time in their lives.  Whether the celebration is a wedding, a naming ceremony or a funeral, being a celebrant is an honour.

A celebrant’s role involves significant responsibility which has become highly regulated.  Celebrants must run professional small businesses, be creative presenters and writers, be effective and sensitive communicators and, most importantly, be responsible for all legal marriage requirements. To perform well in this field you need to consider the basic skill set that a celebrant will need. This includes, but is not limited to creative writing skills, public speaking skills and organisational skills and attention to detail.

The Gordon provides accredited and authorised celebrancy training in the below courses:

Certificate IV in Celebrancy:

Celebrants may specialise in a range of areas of celebrancy including; Celebrant, Civil Celebrant, Community Celebrant, Family Celebrant, Funeral Celebrant, Loss and grief Celebrant and Marriage Celebrant .  To qualify to become a Commonwealth-Registered Marriage Celebrant, it is now a requirement to complete a full Certificate IV in Celebrancy.
