Electrotechnology

Begin the first two years of Certificate II in Electrotechnology as part of a VCAL program.  Completion of all required units will reduce the educational component of an apprenticeship.  The training is mainly project based and gives industry relevant hands-on experience as an introduction to the diverse career opportunities in the Electrotechnology industry.

 

What we offer

The VCAL Electrotechnology course incorporates Certificate II in Electrotechnology* and offers training in:

  • Perform computations
  • Dismantle, assemble and fabricate electro-technology components
  • Solve problems in extra-low voltage single path circuits
  • Fix and secure equipment
  • Use drawings, schedules and manuals
  • Document OH&S risks in electrical
  • Provide basic sustainable energy solutions
  • Attach cords and plugs to electrical equipment
  • Conduct in-service safety testing
  • Carry out basic repairs to electronic apparatus

*These units are indicative and are subject to change.

This course is underpinned by industry standard Occupational Health and Safety work practices.  First-aid and Course in Construction Card (CIC) is part of all GTEC courses.

The VCAL Electrotechnology course takes place at the Gordon where several trades can work around each other and occasionally at external community locations.
