Fitting

Begin the first two years of Certificate III in Engineering (Fitting) as part of a VCAL program.  Completion of all required units will reduce the educational component of an apprenticeship. 

The training is mainly project based and gives industry relevant hands-on experience as an introduction to the diverse career opportunities in the Engineering industry.

What we offer

The VCAL Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Fitting) course incorporates Certificate III in Engineering (Fitting)* and offers training to:

• Perform computations
• Perform engineering measurements
• Mark off/out (general machining)
• Perform general machining
• Use hand tools
• Use power tools/hand held operations
• Interact with computing technology
• Research and analyse engineering information
• Perform incidental heat treatment
• Interpret technical drawing
• Perform lathe operations
• Perform milling operations
• Perform grinding operations
• Use tools for precision work
• Dismantle, replace and assemble engineering components.

This course is underpinned by industry standard Occupational Health and Safety work practices.  First-aid and Course in Construction Card (CIC) is part of all GTEC courses.

The VCAL Fitting course takes place at the Gordon Institute of TAFE where several trades can work around each other and occasionally at external community locations.
