Plumbing

Begin the first two years of Certificate III in Plumbing as part of a VCAL program.  Completion of all required units will reduce the educational component of an apprenticeship.  The training is mainly project based and gives industry relevant hands-on experience as an introduction to the diverse career opportunities in the Plumbing industry.

What we offer

The VCAL Plumbing course incorporates Certificate III in Plumbing* and offers training in:

• Reading plans and calculating plumbing quantities
• Using plumbing hand and power tools
• Carrying out levelling
• Cutting and joining sheet metal
• Flash penetrations through roofs and walls
• Fabrication and installation of piping
• Planning sanitary drainage layouts
• Sizing consumer piping systems
• Installing water pump sets
• Location and clearing of blockages
• Installation of stormwater and subsoil drainage
• Designing domestic urban irrigation systems

*These units are indicative and are subject to change. This course is underpinned by industry standard Occupational Health and Safety work practices.  First-aid and Course in Construction Card (CIC) is part of all GTEC courses.

The VCAL Plumbing course takes place at the Gordon Institute of TAFE where several trades can work around each other and occasionally at external community locations.
