    Credit transfer to Australian universities

The Gordon Institute of TAFE has established Credit Transfer arrangements with Australian Universities. These arrangements can mean a reduction of 6 to 18 months to the amount of time normally required to complete a degree. On successful completion of a Gordon Institute of TAFE qualification and subject to the university rules and regulations Gordon graduates can apply to study a related degree program at Australian Universities. The granting of credit acknowledges that an individual's knowledge or skills represent the equivalent of the learning outcomes of one or more units of study in a course. The granting of credit takes into account the relevance, standard and currency of the learning for which the credit is sought. Credit normally is not granted for learning completed more than ten years prior to the time of the application for credit.

The maximum amount of credit available may vary from course to course but is normally:

    • 50% credit for an Advanced Diploma when linked to a three-year Bachelor Degree

    • 37.5% credit for an Advanced Diploma when linked to a four-year Bachelor Degree

    • 33% credit for a Diploma when linked to a three-year Bachelor Degree

    • 25% credit for a Diploma when linked to a four-year Bachelor Degree.

The maximum amount of external credit based on a completed course at the same or higher level is normally 66.6% when linked to a three-year Bachelor Degree.

When applying for Credit the following evidence must be included with Credit Transfer form:

    • A notarised copy of the qualification, including subjects completed

    • A description of each subject from the institute course brochure or official institute website.
