Australia is a young, beautiful and very well developed country, with friendly people. Geelong is the largest city of Victoria, after Melbourne and has everything we need. Geelong is well located, close to the big and gorgeous city of Melbourne and close to the wonderful beaches of Victoria. I chose the Gordon Institute of TAFE because of its good reputation and I found the course that I wanted to do. I Believe a TAFE course is more practical and cheaper option than University. I now work in a Landscape Architecture firm with very nice people, which makes me feel welcome.

Bianca Lua Nascimiento, Brazil, Certificate IV in Horticulture.

I had been to Australia many times on holiday and really loved the country. I am studying in Geelong so I can get enough points to become a permanent resident. The weather is good and the people are friendly. The staff at the Gordon Institute of TAFE are very good and try very hard to explain the work that we have to learn. Gordon offers a very competitive price and I am able to learn lots. It is also good that I have been able to gain work while studying.

Erica Fuliwara, Japan, Diploma of Hospitality Management

I came to Australia for a new experience and thought of meeting new people. I decided to come to Geelong where there are great beaches and the cost of living is cheaper compared to Melbourne. I recommend the Gordon Institute of TAFE because the teachers are all from the industry and students get the opportunity of attaining hands on experience working at the 'Davidson Restaurant' and 'Café on Track' located on campus.

Graca Maria Martins, South Africa, Diploma of Hospitality (Commercial Cookery stream)

I came to Australia to experience a different lifestyle and study at the same time. In Canada, there is no TAFE system; they only have community college, where there is no consistency with qualifications being studied and awards given out. The teachers at the Gordon are very motivated, skilled and competent. The Gordon Institute of TAFE offers a good quality of teaching staff and good facilities that meet my educational and training need. I am looking forward to use the skills and life experience that I have learnt from my time in Australia back in Canada.

Ian Coutts, Canada, Advanced Diploma of Computer System Engineering

I was searching for a lifestyle change. I wanted to study in an environment where I could live near the beach and surf. Geelong offers a unique location as it is near the Great Ocean Road, the Surf coast. I also have friends in the area. I have studied the Diploma of Conservation and Land Management for two years. I will use skills gained in this course to find employment back in the UK. All I can say it was a great experience and a great way to spend few years. The Gordon has been really useful and I would recommend the experience to anyone.

Jack Stratfold, England, Diploma of Conservation and Land Management

An overseas qualification is respected in Pakistan. I chose to study at the Gordon Institute of TAFE because it has a very good reputation in Australia. The Gordon is positioned in the heart of the city of Geelong and is in walking g distance from the railway station and Bus stops. Also, I like the teaching style; here, they use resources such as hand outs (photocopies) and overhead projectors. Completing this course will allow me to improve my employment options back home or I could apply for further studies. Geelong has everything that I need. It is quiet during the week but during the weekends is good for socialising.

Syed Shabbir Kazmi, Pakistan, Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management

Once I have finished my 20 week English course I will commence a MBA (Master of Business Administration) at the University of Ballarat. Studying at the Gordon Institute of TAFE has been a great experience. The number of students in the ELICOS class is small so the teachers are able to offer a more individualised attention to the students needs. I think the city of Geelong is a good place to learn and practise English as it is small so local people have the time to be friendly. Also, once I was confident enough with my English, I started to look for a part time job. I am working in a local restaurant and I feel really happy because while I am earning money, I can practise my English and feel part of the community.

Xue Ni, China, Elicos 20 weeks
