Gordon fashion graduate Carly Harman will be the envy of aspiring fashion designers around the country, when she embarks on a six-month paid apprenticeship with high end fashion king Alex Perry in 2012.

Carly received the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity as the winner of the 2011 Electrolux Fashion Apprentice competition, chosen from over 100 entries nationwide as having the most eye-catching and creative dress design.

Having graduated from The Gordon in 2010 with an Advanced Diploma of Applied Fashion Design and Technology and now working in product development for international textile company Basford Brands in Geelong, Carly’s unique fabric choices and meticulous design techniques set her aside from the other designers.

Carly will begin her apprenticeship in 2012 where she will support Alex and his team on their day-to-day duties, such as assisting with the development of dresses in the studio workroom, sourcing fabrics, meeting clients and preparing for and working backstage at fashion shows.
