Custom couture for Catriona

Second year fashion students got the experience of a lifetime recently with the opportunity to design and construct a gown for Catriona Rowntree for the annual Silver Ribbon Ball on December 3.

Students worked in groups to create a range of designs for Catriona to choose from based on the glamorous event theme ‘Arabian Nights’, with the final design a mix of two designs combined with her own special touch.   

Catriona said the whole process was a wonderful experience.  

"Apart from the thrill and honour of having the students ask to make a gown for me; it was a delight to chat with them, swap inside stories and hopefully inspire them. The cherry on top was when I wore this magnificent Arabian Nights themed gown, feel amazing in it, and have the crowd give a huge cheer when I told them I had been dressed by fashion students from The Gordon." 

With talent like this at The Gordon, our fashion students could soon be getting more requests!
