    Page Content

The Counselling and Careers Unit is staffed by a team of professional, personal and career counsellors.

    Career Counselling:

The unit provides free and confidential vocational counselling appointments to both prospective and current students. The computer program Career Voyage is available to help users match their skills and interests with a suitable career.

Current students are also able to obtain assistance with job applications, resumes, interview skills and employment information.

The Career Resource Centre is located in 'Building H' (ground floor next to the Library) at The Gordon's City Campus  and provides a range of resources including university handbooks, TAFE course directories and the latest VTAC guides. This is an open access facility, which we encourage students to use at their leisure.

In addition, the Careers Unit holds a range of workshops and class sessions on job searching (including resume preparation), career decision making and lodging online VTAC applications.

    Personal Counselling:

Counsellors offer a free and confidential personal counselling service to currently enrolled students. Personal counselling provides current students with an opportunity to speak to professional counsellors about personal issues affecting their life as a student. Mediation services are also offered for students and staff requiring dispute resolution.

Financial advice is available for students experiencing financial hardship particularly in regard to course and material costs.

In addition, the personal counselling unit holds a range of workshops and class sessions on relaxation and stress management, bullying and harassment, mental health and drug and alcohol.
