    At The Gordon we recognise that all students with disabilities are individuals with unique strengths and personal needs. It is important to us that students with disabilities achieve success in their studies and are provided with good quality support from the Institute to achieve their individual educational goals. The support provided to students with disabilities at The Gordon is organised and monitored through Disability Support Services.

     

    Who is Eligible for Support? 

    Students who require additional assistance in their academic studies due to:

    • Chronic illness or medical condition

    • Hearing impairment

    • Intellectual disability

    • Learning disability

    • Physical disability

    • Psychiatric illness

    • Speech/communication impairment

    • Vision impairment

    These services are provided free of charge to eligible students and operate across all campuses.

    Types of Support:

    • Advice regarding physical access

    • Adaptive or specialised equipment

    • Class notes in accessible formats

    • In-class support - note taking and/or participation assistance

    • Orientation to the Institute and introduction to key staff members

    • Sign interpreting - AUSLAN

    • Specialist tutorial support

    • Pre-enrolment information

    The Next Step

    If you are a student with a disability considering study or currently studying at The Gordon, it may be helpful to make an appointment to meet with the Disability Liaison Officer. At this appointment, you will be provided with information about the type and frequency of support available to you. The Disability Liaison Officer can also assist you in discussing your needs with relevant teaching staff and identifying the steps you can take to make studying at The Gordon as enjoyable and beneficial as possible.
