Profiles and Testimonials

"I’m a very creative person and was looking for a career which was creative but sustainable, so floristry fitted me perfectly! I chose The Gordon as it’s local and I’d heard good things about the course.

I studied as an apprentice so I had a great balance of hands-on experience and class-based work. I learnt important base skills in flower care and arranging, and have also learnt some very useful business and design skills and procedures. I also attended the study tour to Singapore in 2014 which was a huge highlight. I’m currently working at Flower Bowl in East Geelong as a qualified florist where I get to be creative and arrange flowers all day.

If you’re thinking of entering this field, I’d recommend getting as much hands-on experience as you can - volunteer your time in shops, even if it’s just sweeping the floor! You need to be prepared to work hard, but it’s rewarding when you make someone’s day by creating something special for them, and coming up with new designs to create beautiful things."
