Top Gordon students announced
The Gordon announced its most outstanding students of 2016 on Wednesday 22 February at The Pier in Geelong. Around 300 guests attended the event which recognises students who’ve attained the highest standards and display outstanding commitment to training, community involvement, and leadership.
The event which saw 44 students vie for more than $13,500 in prize money across 21 award categories. The nominees represented a broad cross-section of trade and vocational areas including: animal studies, automotive, building design, building trades, beauty services, cookery, conservation & land management, electro technology, engineering studies, floristry, hairdressing, landscape construction, sports turf management, VCE, veterinary nursing, visual arts and more.
The winners of the two highest honours bestowed on the night were Kate Elstone, cabinet maker for the Apprentice of the Year award sponsored by Gforce Employment Solutions, and Louise Nicholas, Conservation & Land Managment graduate for the Vocational Student of the Year award sponsored by Deakin University.
