Free TAFE popular at The Gordon

Did you know that students will be able to study at The Gordon without paying tuition fees this year as part of the Victorian Government’s Free TAFE for Priority Courses program?
Starting on 1 January 2019, the program sees the Victorian Government pay tuition fees for eligible students that enrol into priority courses that lead to occupations in industries where there is a growing demand for skilled workers.
The Gordon currently delivers 30 courses that are included on the Government’s tuition-free priority course list.
A report released by the Skilling Australia Foundation last year found nine of the top 10 occupations predicted to have the most jobs growth are in vocational training areas. The same report found that VET graduate salaries are now outstripping their university counterparts; the median full-time income for a VET graduate is $56,000 vs $54,000 for someone with a bachelor degree. Now with Free TAFE reducing financial barriers to study, this makes a TAFE qualification even more rewarding.
Jackie Taylor, Director of Education (Global) at The Gordon looks forward to the program delivering real outcomes for students.

“Education is a huge benefit in assisting people find employment and a career, so making it more accessible will benefit both the community broadly with positive social and economic outcomes, and supporting growth and in-demand industries and sectors by adding much-needed skills into a growing workforce,” said Ms Taylor.
