The Gordon apprentice makes top 10 in the world

The Gordon’s joinery apprentice Thomas Neave has placed in the world’s top 10 at the 2019 WorldSkills world championships in Kazan, Russia.

Tom was exceptional in his delivery of the timed and scored project, and under intense pressure achieved an amazing result making equal 7th on the leader board.

The top ten competitors were from France, Korea, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Chinese Taipei, China, Russia, Hungary and Australia. Tom said of his experience,

“What a crazy adventure it's been! Who would've thought after competing in my first regional 4 years ago I'd be competing in Russia for the international… and to top it off I received a Medallion for Excellence.”

Tom's effort, along with his colleagues in the Skillaroos team, led to Australia finishing in 8th place out of 66 countries.

Way to go Tom! We’re all so proud of you here at The Gordon!
