Course Description

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to undertake work activities in compliance with organisational procedures that prevent and control infection. It has a particular emphasis on the above as it relates to COVID-19 and has been designed with a specific Building and Construction emphasis.

This FREE online infection control courses is self-paced, nationally recognised and can be undertaken from home, at any time. Upon completion of your online study component, you will need to undertake a 2-hour face-to-face assessment at The Gordon or at a suitable workplace to complete your course.
 
Upon completion of your infection control training, you will be able to confidently:

• demonstrate the use of required precautions and control measures, as required for own work activities
• confine at least one resource or piece of equipment that is suspected of being contaminated, according to organisational infection prevention and control procedures
• dispose of waste according to organisational infection prevention and control procedures.

You will learn a range of skills including:

• hand hygiene practices
• social distancing measures
• use of personal protective equipment
• disposal of contaminated waste
• hazard identification, control and reporting
• appropriate protocols and responses in the event of an incident
• knowledge regarding the basis of infection and transmission

A statement of attainment is issued upon the completion of the course.

BSBWHS332X Apply infection prevention and control procedures to own work activities

Entry requirements:

• you must be currently employed or a regular volunteer in a building and construction setting or on Job Keeper
• be aged 17 years or older
• have not previously completed this Skill Set or other accredited Infection Control Skill Sets
• you must be a Victorian resident
