Course Description
Learn the essential skills and knowledge you need to decrease the risk and transmission of infection while undertaking your daily duties working in the Early Childhood Education industry.
This FREE accredited online infection control course is self-paced, nationally recognised and can be undertaken from home, at any time.
Upon completion of your online study, you will need to undertake a 2-hour face-to-face assessment at The Gordon or within a suitable workplace with a COVID Safe Plan to complete the skill set. Upon completion of your infection control training, you will be able to confidently:
- demonstrate the use of required precautions and control measures, as needed for own work activities in the Early Childhood Education and Care industry
- confine at least one resource or piece of equipment that is suspected of being contaminated, according to organisational infection prevention and control procedures
- dispose of waste according to organisational infection prevention and control procedures.
You will learn a range of skills, including:
- hand hygiene practices
- social distancing measures
- use of personal protective equipment
- disposal of contaminated waste
- hazard identification, control and reporting
- appropriate protocols and responses in the event of an incident
- knowledge regarding the basis of infection and transmission
This is course is designed for people working in the Early Childhood Education and Care industry.
A statement of attainment is issued upon the completion of the course.

BSBWHS332X Apply infection prevention and control procedures to own work activities.
Entry requirements
- you must be currently employed or a regular volunteer in an early childhood setting or on Job Keeper
- be aged 17 years or older
- have not previously completed this Skill Set or other accredited Infection Control Skill Sets
- you must be a Victorian resident
