Course Description

Do you want to make a significant difference to your community? This comprehensive course will qualify you to become a professional social welfare worker and is  accredited by the Australian Community Workers Association (ACWA), so you can be sure you are training with the best. You will learn about sociology, welfare law, human rights, psychology and counselling skills. You will also develop practical skills to work effectively with individuals, families, groups and communities.

Due to building works at the Geelong City Campus this course is currently located at the East Geelong campus. It is expected to be back at the Geelong City Campus in March 2019.

This is a FREE TAFE COURSE in 2019*.

*The Free TAFE for Priority Courses initiative is open to Australian citizens, permanent residents and New Zealand citizens only

Work placement/industry experience

Through our established network, you will also complete a minimum 100 hours of supervised work placement. This allows you to apply your skills and knowledge, gain valuable experience, and begin to develop your own industry network.

You will be required to obtain both a current and approved Working with Children Check and Police Check to meet workplace regulatory requirements.
