Course Description

This course has limited places and high demand. February applications for HLT37215 Cert III in Pathology will open for our Werribee Campus: October 1 - October 31, 2019 and for our Geelong City Campus: November 1 – November 30, 2019. Early applications are recommended. (We reserve the right to close course intakes early). 

If you would like to work in pathology as a specimen collector (phlebotomist) this course will teach you how to take blood samples, various swabs and electrocardiograms for patients requiring pathology tests. You will learn infection control, first aid, WHS principles, how to prepare samples for testing, as well as communication and customer service skills. The course includes performing live bleeds in class and out in the industry, giving you real life experience. 

The course is delivered by passionate, industry-based staff. Gordon graduates are well respected and sought after by major pathology companies.

Work placement/industry experience

The Gordon will arrange 35 hours of work placement at the end of the course. You will be required to obtain both a current and approved Working with Children Check and Police Check, as well as the Hepatitis B immunisation to meet workplace regulatory requirements.
