Course Description

Would you like to enter the allied health industry in a support role, working with professionals in a variety of workplace settings such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, dietetics, speech therapy or podiatry? The course has been designed in consultation with industry and includes both theory and hands-on learning. If you are employed in the allied health industry you can also undertake this course as a traineeship where you will learn to provide therapeutic and program-related support under the guidance of allied health professionals. The course is offered full time or as a traineeship.

If you are not currently employed an Australian Apprenticeship Support Network Provider may be able to assist you in finding an employer in the allied health industry, and can also start your application and enrolment process. 

This is a FREE TAFE COURSE in 2020 (traineeship only). Click here for eligibility criteria.

Work placement/industry experience

  • Work placement is completed as part of your study, with placement options including:
    • 1 day per week in Semester 2 | 3 one week blocks during term breaks | 1 three week block at the end of the year/start of 2021. You require a uniform while on placement (to be purchased by student) and suitable neat attire (black pants and flat non-slip shoes).
    • Some facilities will require you to obtain a Flu Vaccination prior to commencing placement.
    • The Gordon partners with a number of Allied Health facilities within the South Barwon region for work placement. Placement hours will vary and you may be required to travel to Lorne and Colac.
  • ​You will be required to obtain both a current and approved Working with Children Check and Police Check to meet workplace regulatory requirements.

Full time - 3 days per week | Wednesday - Friday | 9.00am - 3.30pm
(1 day per week of workplacement is additional to full-time attendance)
