22338VIC VETDSS - Certificate II in Building & Construction (Bricklaying) Pre-app*

Course description

*At the completion of this VETDSS course students will gain a partial qualification only.

Are you currently attending secondary school and looking to enter the bricklaying industry? Get a taste for the bricklaying trade before undertaking an apprenticeship with this pre-apprenticeship course.

You will learn specific trade skills like using bricklaying tools, levelling and bricklaying techniques and safety procedures that will set you up for employment as an apprentice bricklayer. When you complete the course, you may gain credit towards your VCE.

Work placement/industry experience

10 days of work placement over two years is strongly recommended. This may occur during the term holidays.

The sourcing of placement will be the joint responsibility of the secondary school, the student and the Local Learning and Employment Network.

The Gordon is committed to ensuring all students have access to the educational and support services they may need while studying. We do this by carrying out a pretraining review that is integrated with the application and enrolment process. For most courses, this review also includes a short literacy and numeracy assessment relevant to the course. The outcomes of the pretraining review assist our teachers and trainers to better understand each student’s capabilities prior to training and enable all students to be matched to the right program for them.

Applicants are expected to have an appropriate literacy and numeracy level equivalent to the successful completion of year 9.
