Entry requirements

  • Attending a secondary school
  • Literacy and numeracy level equivalent to the successful completion of Year 9
  • Students selecting this course are required to attend full day excursions/incursions.

You will learn

  • Essential animal care skills: handling, health, hygiene, and nutrition
  • Work with a variety of animals, including dogs, cats, birds, and small mammals
  • Focus on promoting animal welfare and responsible pet ownership
  • Enhance the well-being of animals through enrichment activities and provide valuable information to fulfil their specific care requirements

Course outcomes

Upon successful completion of this program you will receive:

  • Recognition of up to two VCE VET units at Units 1 and 2 level, and a VCE VET Units 3 and 4 sequence
  • ATAR contribution: if you receive a VCE VET Units 3 and 4 sequence you may be eligible for an increment towards your ATAR 
  • Certificate II in Animal Care qualification
