Course description

Are you looking to develop a career as a remedial massage therapist? 

When you study the HLT52015 Diploma of Remedial Massage with The Gordon you can choose to complete your clinic experience at either our Geelong City Campus or our Werribe Campus. You are also assured of your eligibility to register with peak massage industry associations. 

Remedial massage includes sport, therapeutic, relaxation and remedial techniques as well as postural assessment. You undertake theoretical and practical massage training that will assist you to plan, apply and assess soft tissue massage techniques for the healthcare and allied health industries. You will also learn about human anatomy and physiology, massage theory and practice, medical terminology, business practice and client communication, and working safely and ethically in healthcare and wellness environments.

Work placement/industry experience

Work placement is not required in this course but recommended, organised by The Gordon. *If placement is undertaken, please note that you may be required to travel outside of your usual training location to attend placement. This may include other regional areas or suburbs of Melbourne.

We reserve the right to close course intakes early. Many courses have limited places and high demand. Early applications are recommended. We reserve the right to cancel intakes and courses if there are insufficient student numbers.

  • Applicants must be aged 18 years or over at the time of course commencement
  • Applicants are expected to have literacy and numeracy skills at Year 11 or Australian Core Skills Framework Level 3 to meet the academic requirements for the course. 
  • To be eligible to apply for a VET Student Loan applicants will be required to: 
    • undertake an independent assessment test to ensure they possess Level 3 in reading and numeracy, or
    • provide their Year 12 certificate, or
    • provide evidence of completion of a Certificate IV or above. 
  • Working with Children Check may be required to complete some external work and industry sessions. This is also a requirement to meet the criteria for association membership upon completion of the qualification
  • You must reside in Victoria to access Victorian Government Subsidised Fees and any incentive such as Job Trainer. Full fees apply to all non-Victorian residents.

Each student must complete a pre-training review as part of their application. The outcome of your pre-training review assists our teachers and trainers to better understand your capabilities prior to training and enables you to be matched to the right program. Your literacy and numeracy skills will be evaluated and you may be required to undertake a separate assessment. Follow this link for more information about literacy and numeracy skills .

Practice tests

In order to prepare for your LLN, you may wish to attempt some practise tests in which you will find similar questions (with solutions too). These practice tests are not VSL approved but may be similar in question type and level of difficulty to what may be asked in the VSL approved LLN. Click here for practice tests. Please note, the VSL approved LLN cannot be resat within 3 months of undertaking it.

Academic:

Successful completion of Australian Year 12 or equivalent – Equivalents can be found on our Entry Requirements page.

English:

IELTS Academic overall score of 5.5 with no band below 5.0 (or equivalent); or completion of Australian Year 12; or a qualification undertaken in Australia at Certificate IV or higher and completed within the past 5 years; or university studies in Australia of at least 2 years duration.

*Applicants from specified countries may be exempt from English Language Requirements for admissions purposes. Such students will still need to provide evidence of meeting minimum English requirements for visa purposes. Check the list of exempt countries for more information.

Fee help and student loans

VET Student Loans are available for eligible students for tuition fees only. The current years maximum loan cap is $16,077

Payment plans may be available for students who are not eligible for a VET Student Loan.
