The course is a self-paced online professional development short course for celebrants.
This course presents the fundamental legal obligations of Commonwealth-registered marriage celebrants.
It covers:
- Legal obligations before, during, and after the marriage ceremony
- Marriage forms and certificates and how to complete them
- Fundamental resources for Commonwealth-registered marriage celebrants
- Validity of marriage
- Real consent – what it is and how to fulfil obligations.
The legal landscape of celebrancy has changed over the last few years. This 4-hour course takes you through the essential legal obligations for Commonwealth-registered marriage celebrants. Learn about the ‘4Cs’ consequences for the couple, celebrant & community of your legal obligations, explore the difference between ‘consent’ and ‘real consent’; take a trip through the new marriage forms, and discover the essential resources every marriage celebrant needs. The course not only covers ‘what’ you need to do but ‘why’ we do it for a richer learning experience.
This course suits all Commonwealth-registered marriage celebrants, experienced or newly registered.

Equipment requirements
