Course description
This course provides participants with the appropriate knowledge required when undertaking employment in a hospitality or retail food handling area. Participants who attend the training sessions and successfully complete the assessment tasks throughout the training will be issued a Statement of Attainment for SITXFSA001 – Use Hygienic Practices for Food Safety that complies with Victorian Government Food Safety Programs and Local Council food premises requirements relating personal hygiene and food contamination.
Possible career outcomes
Hospitality related roles including food and beverage attendants, bar staff, kitchen staff, food delivery drivers, canteen staff, pop up food venues, sandwich bars and food related retail operations such as supermarkets and delicatessens.

Course delivery
Online interactive activities and videos, followed by quizzes.
The course can be undertaken at your own pace and takes approximately 4hrs to complete the online component. Once the online components are completed you can book an on campus session with an assessor for your final practical assessment (1 hour). You can expect to complete your final practical assessment within ten working days from completing your online component.

- You must reside in Victoria to access Victorian Government Subsidised Fees and any incentive such as Job Trainer. Full fees apply to all non-Victorian residents.
Each student must complete a pre-training review as part of their application. The outcome of your pre-training review assists our teachers and trainers to better understand your capabilities prior to training and enables you to be matched to the right program. Your literacy and numeracy skills will be evaluated and you may be required to undertake a separate assessment. Follow this link for more information about literacy and numeracy skills .
Practice tests
In order to prepare for your LLN, you may wish to attempt some practise tests in which you will find similar questions (with solutions too).
These practice tests are not VSL approved but may be similar in question type and level of difficulty to what may be asked in the VSL approved LLN.

Please note that the listed electives are delivered by The Gordon but you may not need to complete all of these units to successfully complete this qualification.
If you have previously completed any of the units of competency relevant to this course, you may be eligible for Credit Transfer (CT).
Any previous relevant experience may qualify you for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).

- Written answers the verify knowledge
- Feedback and questions with trainer during the course.
