Profiles and Testimonials

“I knew for years that I wanted to make a positive difference in people’s lives and the Diploma of Community Services at The Gordon was the perfect entry point for me to follow my passion.

I truly loved this course. I know it sounds cliché but it is the best thing I have ever done as it has lead me into my dream role working for DHS with the Child Protection Unit. This course is a great foundation with all units critically important for learning the skills I needed in the real world, and has set me up for work in the community services sector.

As I am an ‘on the job' learner, the hands-on experience gained during my diploma opened my eyes up to the real world, and cemented my dedication to this industry.”

"I developed an interest in youth work over a number of years. After seeing and reading about disadvantaged youth, I decided I wanted to contribute to change on a sociological, community, and personal level.

The Gordon gave me the perfect toolbox to deal with a wide range of social issues disadvantaged youth are confronted with everyday. Work placement was magnificent. and gave me the opportunity to enter the industry in a controlled environment, and put the theory I had learnt into practice.

I currently work with youth who are withdrawing from drugs and alcohol, and help equip them with the necessary tools to re-enter the community.  It is very rewarding to see a young person achieve their goals with the help of myself and my co-workers."
