Are you someone who didn’t finish secondary school and would really like to start studying, or maybe you need to improve your basic reading, writing and number skills.
A General Education course is the perfect place to start your learning journey. Don’t worry if you don’t know what level to start at, we will assess your language and numeracy to ensure you are enrolled into the right General Education course for your current skill level.
Our courses are run by engaging and supportive teaching staff who aim to improve your basic skills and give you the confidence to continue on your learning journey. The courses provide study in reading and writing, mathematics, oral communication, and general education skills. You will gain formal recognition for your study as well as being able to pathway to courses at The Gordon or secure employment.
If you are hoping to undertake our Diploma of Nursing program but need to refresh your skills our Bridging into Nursing Studies (BINS) course is ideal with two intakes per year. We also offer some General Education units in Werribee to prepare you for the BINS course. If you are ready to study we recommend giving us a call to find out what course it the best fit for you.
There are currently no formal pathways to specific universities within this program area.
Visit our pathways to university page for more information on what you could be eligible for upon completion of a Gordon qualification.
“I wanted to work within my community and nursing is a job that gives a great range of options. I chose The Gordon as it suited my learning style, and is highly regarded by people in the industry. I initially completed the Bridging into Nursing and Medical Terminology courses, to test my skills and see if I could balance study and family life. Through those, I have found a new confidence and belief that I can do this.
I’m now studying the Diploma of Nursing. I am learning something new every day and loving every minute of it! I like that there is a lot of teacher support, more class contact time and smaller classes. I’m getting hands-on experience to obtain the skills I need to gain employment and have an excellent chance at doing so.
After The Gordon, I hope to continue on to complete my bachelor at Deakin and would eventually like to work as an intensive care nurse.”
