Plumbing

Our plumbing courses provide you with a solid foundation of practical skills to become a licensed plumber and work on a broad range of domestic and commercial plumbing jobs. You will learn technical skills in areas such as gas fitting, water supply, sanitary fixtures and fittings, roofing, drainage and mechanical processes.

Combine your TAFE and industry training

As a plumbing apprentice, you get the best of both worlds; learning on-the-job from your employer as well as from our specialist trainers at TAFE. The Gordon's campuses at East Geelong and Hoppers Crossing are home to world-class trade facilities with plumbing courses designed by industry bodies, to give you the latest skills and knowledge being used in your trade.

Get the edge before your apprenticeship

Our pre-apprenticeships program is a proven pathway to securing an apprenticeship and a great way to try out the plumbing trade. You can also shave off some of your TAFE training time, once you start your full apprenticeship!

Finished your trade? Get your licence.

If you’re a qualified plumber looking to apply for specific licences, we also offer the Certificate IV in Plumbing and Services. This is made up of 11 short courses, aligned to the licensing stream requirements set by the VBA.

Profiles and Testimonials

Aaron knew that working with his hands in the plumbing trade was for him after doing work experience in the small country town of Warracknabeal while at Secondary College.

Now in the third year of his Certificate III in Plumbing and apprenticeship with Quick Plumbing in Warracknabeal, Aaron works on a diverse range of residential projects from roofing and hot water services to home renovations and sewer blockages.

“I really enjoyed the hands-on work and was lucky enough to be offered an apprenticeship after working part-time with my work experience host over the school holidays.

I enjoy my job as I’m working on different jobs all the time and my surroundings change each day. I chose to study at The Gordon initially because I have family to stay with here and I’m glad I did – the teachers and facilities are great.”
