Orientation and Key Dates

International Student Orientation

We want to make sure that the beginning of your study experience at The Gordon is a positive one and our orientation program is a big part of that. You will get the opportunity to meet your fellow students and Gordon staff, as well as engaging in fun social activities like Aussie trivia, an amazing race around Geelong and a welcome morning tea.

As a newly arrived international student you will have many questions about studying and living in Geelong so make sure you arrive at least three days prior to your course start date. You can view the International Orientation presentation here.

You will find lots of resources and helpful information for new international students in the International Student Welcome Handbook.

International Student Buddy Program

The International Student Buddy Program matches current Gordon students with new International students to help introduce you to life on campus and in Geelong. This is a great way for you to meet Geelong locals and make long-lasting friendships.
The role of your International Student Buddy is to:

  • Be friendly and welcoming
  • Contact you before you arrive in Australia to help answer any questions you may have
  • Meet you when you arrive to teach you about The Gordon and Geelong
  • Stay in contact with you throughout your studies and be enthusiastic, helpful and friendly
