The Gordon Awards for Excellence 2018


Top Gordon students announced

The Gordon announced its excellent students of 2017 on Wednesday 21 February at The Pier in Geelong. Around 300 guests attended the event which recognises students who have attained the highest standards and display outstanding commitment to training, community involvement and leadership.

The event saw 47 students vie for $12,500 in prize money across 19 award categories.

The nominees represented a broad cross-section of trade and vocational areas including: animal studies, building design, building trades, beauty services, business and technology, celebrancy, cookery, early childhood and care, electro technology, fashion design, graphic design, hairdressing, laboratory technology, landscape construction, screen and media, sports turf management, travel and tourism VCE and visual arts.
The winners of the two highest honours bestowed on the night were Dermott O’Connor, sports turf manager for the Apprentice of the Year Award sponsored by Gforce Employment Solutions and Mandy Dollery, graphic designer for the Student of the Year Award sponsored by Deakin University.
