Students and other visitors attending campus are no longer required to show proof of their vaccination status. Face masks and QR code check-ins are also no longer required on-campus. Students undertaking placements must continue to adhere to the vaccination mandate that applies to their sector.


Who do I need to contact at The Gordon if I’ve tested positive?
Email rsw@gordontafe.edu.au as soon as possible and ensure that you include your full name and Student ID number in the body of the email. Follow current Government guidelines and isolate for seven days. 

What do I need to do if I'm a close contact?
Close contacts no longer need to isolate which means you can attend campus. However, you will be required to wear a face mask indoors. If you choose not to isolate, you will need to undertake at least five rapid tests, which must be negative over the seven days that would previously have been the self-quarantine period. This is a government directive.

You must have your third dose or booster vaccination to attend student placement in a healthcare, aged care or disability setting.
A change to the COVID-19 Pandemic Orders was implemented on 12 January regarding vaccination requirements for healthcare workers. This requires students undertaking placement in 2022 to provide evidence of their COVID-19 third dose vaccination status, or a medical exemption by an authorised medical practitioner, to be permitted to work onsite.

If you are enrolled in a healthcare, aged care or disability program that requires you to undertake a student placement in 2022:

  • Healthcare workers (including students) eligible to receive an additional COVID-19 vaccine by 12 January are now required to receive a third dose vaccine by 12 February 2022. 
  • Healthcare workers (including students) not yet eligible to receive an additional COVID-19 vaccine by 12 January 2022 are required to receive their COVID-19 third dose vaccine by 29 March 2022.

If you are affected by this change, your program area will contact you directly to provide instructions on how to submit evidence of your third dose (booster) vaccination or eligible medical exemption.

How will The Gordon store my personal medical and background check data?
Students in courses that require the submission of personal medical (e.g. immunisation history and vaccination records) and background check (Police and/or Working With Children Check) data for placement purposes will have their documentation stored in a secure document management system within The Gordon. This private information will only be accessible by required Gordon employees to facilitate placement coordination and booking. Documentation or confirmation of the citing of documentation, will be provided to placement host organisations, as required by the placement hosts policies and procedures.
 
Students are required to complete an Information Release Consent Form prior to documentation or confirmation of the citation of documentation being provided to placement host organisations. Failure to complete this form and/or to provide the required documentation prior to placement, may result in cancellation of placement by the placement host organisation, with additional placement re-booking fees charged by The Gordon to arrange a new placement to meet course requirements. On completion of placements within your course, your medical and background check data will be deleted by The Gordon.
 
How can I lodge a formal complaint? 
We understand that the Victorian Government’s directions have the potential to impact people in differing ways. The purpose of these directions is to limit the spread of COVID-19 within workforces and TAFEs across Victoria.
 
The Victorian Government has stated that these directions are reasonably necessary to protect public health; that they give proper consideration to human rights under the Charter for Human Rights and Responsibilities 2006 (Vic); and that they are compatible with human rights under the Charter.
