Premier Daniel Andrews has announced that as of 11.59 pm Sunday 19 September, Greater Geelong and the Surf Coast will go into a snap seven day lockdown.  The restrictions that currently apply in Melbourne will apply to the Geelong and Surf Coast regions, except the curfew which will not apply. Remote learning will continue for most students.

Course delivery
Students will continue with remote learning. Some exceptions apply, see below. Class timetables remain unchanged.

Students undertaking courses in health, community services, construction and trades can attend campus. VCAL, VCE and VETDSS students can attend campus for Year 12 exams and assessments only. Vulnerable student groups can attend campus. Students falling into these categories will be contacted directly by their teaching staff.

Authorised Provider and Authorised Worker Permits
Students are required to carry an Authorised Provider and Authorised Worker Permit to attend campus or work placement. Permits must be signed and fully populated with scheduled dates and times of class/work placement attendance. The Gordon can issue these permits for one month periods. If you recently obtained a permit, please check the expiration date as your existing permit may remain valid during this new lockdown.

All apprentices attending campus or their workplace must be issued a permit by their employer.

Students can only attend placement if it is permitted under the authorised provider and authorised worker list. Work placement is dependent on the host employer.  Students due to commence placement will be contacted by The Gordon with further information.

Student Residence
We will not be in a position to take on any new long-term or short-term stays within the Student Residence during this lockdown period.

Face Masks
Face masks must be worn indoors and outdoors whenever you leave your home unless an exception applies. Any exception to not wear a face mask must be communicated to your teacher so this information can be entered into our COVID-19 register.

All students attending any Gordon campus must check in using the Victorian Government QR codes. Kiosk Check-in Service Centres must be used if you cannot check in electronically. These are located in the following areas:

The Gordon was contacted at 5.00 pm, Tuesday 31 August by the Department of Health & Human Services (DHHS) to advise that a Gordon student had tested positive to Covid-19. The student was last at our East Geelong Campus on Thursday 26 August from 8.00 am to 4.30 pm.

We are supporting DHHS to complete the close contact tracing process.

Tier 1
Classroom E1.09 was a Tier 1 exposure site. Those considered to be close contacts have been notified.

Tier 2
Aside from the room mentioned above, level 1 of Building E was a Tier 2 exposure site. Those affected have been notified.

If you were at East Geelong Campus, Building E, Level 1 on Thursday 26 August from 8.00 am to 4.30 pm, we urge you to follow the advice of the Department of Health & Human Services (DHHS). Barwon Health collated a list of FAQs that specifically relate to The Gordon exposure site. You can find them here.

We have undertaken a deep clean in line with DHHS Covid-19 cleaning guidance. Building E, Level 1 has now reopened.
