Geelong Tertiary Futures Program (GTFP)

GTFP is an exciting initiative funded by Skilling the Bay that engages Year 9 students in education by providing an in-depth preview of a broad range of tertiary studies.

Aims of the GTFP

  • To better equip Year 9 students to identify education and employment opportunities as they chart their future pathways
  • To improve students’ understanding that continuing education is essential for their future economic and employment aspirations and general wellbeing
  • To increase levels of educational attainment and school retention.
Program format – over ten weeks students will
  • undertake a mix of blended online/classroom learning and complete two TAFE accredited units in Communication Skills and Workplace Health and Safety to build their employability skills
  • attend The Gordon City and East Campus for full days of immersion in TAFE education, participating in six Career Previews from approximately 30 different tertiary options.
