Focusing on the adult employment market, three programs are creating new education and training pathways into the H&CS employment sectors.
Three training programs addressed this growing sector’s workforce needs.
The Career Bridging Program short course commenced in 2015 to assist individuals with a corporate service background to transition to work in the Health, Community Services and Disability sectors. The program raised awareness of the opportunities available in these sectors with a series of industry speakers providing insight for participants into the local opportunities and career options available. For more information see Career Bridging Program
The accredited course is specifically tailored to the Health and Community Services sectors and was introduced in 2016 in response to the growing need for middle and upper level leadership requirements identified through industry consultation. Since then, 20 people have graduated. A generic diploma (all sectors) continues to be offered by The Gordon. For more information see Diploma of Leadership and Management
The Passport Program was a non-accredited short course designed to assist adults with entry level training to gain employment in the Health, Community Services and Disability sectors. The first intake commenced in April 2016 and ran for 8 weeks. A key element of the initiative was the provision of extensive and meaningful work placements with local employers. This enables participants to demonstrate they have relevant experience giving reassurance to prospective employers of an understanding of the needs of the position with demonstrated employability skills.
