Over its three stages of delivery, STB has delivered a number of integrated projects to improve education, employment and skills outcomes, bringing together education providers, community organisations and industry to provide tangible outcomes for participants and stakeholders.
STB is now entering a new chapter, with the conclusion of a number of initiatives funded under the original phase, and continuation of a revised set of initiatives to 2020.
In late 2019, our Advisory Group undertook research to tell the story of Geelong’s response to a decline in traditional manufacturing and impending jobs crisis from 2011 and its transition to a more diverse knowledge-based economy. As a result, an independent report was developed profiling the education, employment and skills landscape during that time and detailing emerging challenges. This research provides an evidence base to inform a unified approach to address current and emerging education, employment and skills challenges, including identifying how such an approach would be resourced in the future.
The Skilling the Bay Advisory Group has completed an independent research report – Geelong Education and Workforce profile 2011-2021. With its ability to connect people, organisations and resources, and deliver evidenced-based programs STB can be an organising force for change.
