Meet our Team

Our friendly career advisors provide individual appointments for those needing personalised career advice. We also run a series of workshops and events designed to support you at any stage of your career journey, and we host regular Industry Insights panels with local employers. We can even provide access to a computer and the internet for you to do your job research and applications!

Liz

Manager, Careers & Training

Liz joined the team in January 2021, having previously owned and operated her own careers coaching service in Geelong and central Victoria. She has a Masters in Professional Education and Training, as well as a Doctorate in Adult Education.
Liz has previously worked in a range of roles in higher education, administration and academia, human resources, learning and development, and healthcare.

Sue

Coordinator, Skills and Jobs Centre

Sue has worked in careers related services for 15 years, including 9 years at The Gordon. Sue brings experience in business administration, government relations and project management to the team. Sue has a Bachelor of Applied Economics, a Graduate Certificate in Careers Education and Development and a Masters in Career Development.

Paul

Reconnect Program Careers Advisor

New to the Skills and Jobs Centre team, Paul has taken on a major role as the advisor for the Reconnect program. In this role, Paul assists participants to overcome their barriers in education, training, and employment by providing a tailored support plan into study and employment pathways. Paul has completed a Diploma in Employment Services and a Certificate IV in Child Youth and Family Intervention (Out of Home Care). He has 4 years’ experience working with high-risk youth in the Out of Home sector, in addition to 20 years’ experience in the VET sector, including apprenticeships, traineeships and employment services.

Jodie

Careers Advisor

Jodie is one of the original team members of the Gordon’s Workforce Development Centre, which then became the Skills and Jobs Centre. A major part of her role has been assisting retrenched workers and their families in the Geelong community.
Before her time with us, Jodie spent 4 years working as a Recognised Prior Learning advisor at The Gordon. She spent another 8 years working in the job network and 9 years with Centrelink prior to working at the Gordon. Jodie has diplomas in management and business administration, as well as a Certificate IV in Careers Development.

Belinda

Careers Advisor

Belinda has been with us in a careers role for 4 years, coming from a background in human resources, learning and development, and change management, and student support at a university.
She has completed graduate certificates in career education and development, and training and assessment, postgraduate study in human resources, and a Masters in Professional Psychology.

Liam

Reconnect Program Administrator

Liam started as the Administrator for the Reconnect program in mid-2022. In this role, Liam assists delivery of the Reconnect program, which supports participants in achieving their work and learning goals. Liam is a third-year science student majoring in Chemistry and is passionate about working inclusively to empower individuals to realise their potential. His role encompasses his past diverse and meaningful experiences in higher education and not-for-profit sectors.

Sam

Advisor

Saumil (Sam) joined our team in July 2022. Sam brings a wealth of experience including a Post Graduate Certificate in Human Resource Management and Certificate IV in Human Resources with in-depth knowledge of recruiting, screening, interviewing, placing workers, and HR employment practices. Sam also holds a Diploma in Corporate Communication and Advertising and a Bachelor of Commerce. His experience includes eight years in Employment Sector as an Employment Counsellor in Australia and Canada, along with Telecom and Finance sectors experience in India. Sam firmly believes in Ray Kroc: “The more I help others, the more I succeed”.

Caroline

Careers Advisor

Caroline joined our team 3 years ago and has a postgraduate qualification in Education and a post graduate Certificate in Careers Development. It was her time teaching Work Education that led Caroline into the careers area. Caroline had worked with a lot of people with intellectual disabilities or barriers to education before joining us and has worked with adults on foundation skills such as reading, writing, and digital literacy.

Sue

Customer Liaison Officer

Sue has worked at the Gordon for 5 years and has spent the last 5 years with our team. Prior to this, Sue was a coordinator at the Gordon Werribee Centre.
Including her time at The Gordon, Sue has worked in the TAFE sector for over 13 years. Sue is the first point of contact for internal and external customers, working with people across the Geelong and Wyndham regions.

Kara

Careers Advisor

Kara recently joined the SJC team and has a post graduate Certificate in Career Development and Counselling along with a Bachelor of Arts in Social science. Kara has a background in Hospitality and Management and brings some insight into the challenges associated with returning to work after a career break along with transitioning into a new industry mid-career.

Belinda

Careers Advisor

Belinda is new to the Skills and Job Centre. Belinda’s experience includes working in the employment sector for 8 years, helping people work through adversity and barriers to gain tangible and rewarding goal outcomes which could be study or employment, by creating self-development goals and learning new skills. Belinda has worked with many communities including CALD community, indigenous Australian’s, and people with disabilities. Belinda has completed a Bachelor of Arts and Diploma of Counselling.
