There’s no cost - our services are completely free for all our clients. And there’s no limit on how many times you can come to see us!
We offer a wide range of services for different needs – workshops on resume writing, interview skills and job search strategies; one-to-one appointments with qualified career advisors; and information about study or training.
Anyone from the community is welcome to contact us, whether you’re unemployed, thinking about changing your career or going back to study, needing advice about a job application – in fact, we can help you at any stage of your career!
Our career advisors focus on you as an individual and provide completely independent advice about your best options. However, we do have good knowledge of The Gordon’s programs, if that’s what you’re looking for.
Because we’re connected with local industry and business in Geelong and Wyndham, employers contact us about vacancies, which we advertise on our online portal CareerHub. We’re not a recruitment agency or a jobactive.
CareerHub is your one-stop shop for everything career-related at the SJC. Click here to find out how to access CareerHub. Once you’ve followed these steps, you’ll be able to log in anytime to see job opportunities with local employers and some great resources, or to book into upcoming events.
After booking your appointment with us (phone or Zoom), you’ll get an email with some useful links and resources to read in advance. If you have a resume, email it to skillscentre@gordontafe.edu.au to give the advisor more detail about your work background. Or you can choose to have a Zoom appointment which will enable you to share your resume on screen with the advisor. If you’ve never had a resume, don’t panic – we can help you with this too!
We don’t have interpreters on-site but we can easily arrange one if you let us know in advance. We also have access to Auslan interpreters.
