Wear it Purple

Course: Wear it Purple
Date: 24/08/2026 - 28/08/2026

Wear it Purple Day empowers LGBTQIA+ youth to dream big and express their passion and pride and to thrive. This Wear It Purple Day, we're celebrating the Colours of Courage, a theme that recognises the courage, resilience and strength of LGBTQIA+ young people, while celebrating the power of community, pride and belonging. The Gordon fosters an inclusive culture where students can thrive and will be running activities in the week leading up to Wear it Purple.

Wearing purple or getting involved in any of the activties listed belowduring the week can demonstrate to LGBTQIA+ young people that they are celebrated and respected, acknowledging all have the right to be proud of who they are and who they are becoming.

Pronoun Badges
Pronoun badges will be available in the library (Geelong campuses) and Customer Service (Werribee campuses) if you would like to wear one. Sharing pronouns can help create a welcoming environment where everyone feels seen, respected and included.

Win a Rainbow Sherrin Football
To celebrate Wear It Purple Day, we're giving away rainbow Sherrin footballs. Write one word on a scratch card that helps create an inclusive community (for example: respect, kindness) and add it to our wall in the Library at Geelong Campuses or Customer Service at Werribee Campuses. Submit a photo of your word on the wall to go into the draw.

Discover Stories of Courage and Pride
Visit a campus library and explore a special collection of books celebrating LGBTQIA+ voices, experiences and achievements. From inspiring memoirs to powerful fiction, these stories shine a light on courage, identity, resilience and belonging. Displays will be available at Geelong campuses, with a selection of titles also available at Werribee.
