Entry requirements

  • Attending a secondary school.
  • Applicants are required to be aged 15 years and over.
  • Literacy and numeracy level equivalent to the successful completion of Year 9.
  • Applicants must submit an expression of interest through their secondary school for course selections, answering specific questions regarding their desired educational and career aspirations relevant to the course.
  • Review the personal learning requirements essential to this course and discuss with your school VET Coordinator before you apply.

You will learn

  • Apply the fundamentals of graphic design, including layout, typography, colour, and visual communication principles.
  • Create digital illustrations and design artwork using industry-standard Adobe Creative Cloud software.
  • Develop skills in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Premiere Pro for a range of creative projects.
  • Produce engaging page layouts, digital photography, and video content for print and digital media.
  • Build practical creative and technical skills that support pathways into further study and careers in the creative industries.

Course outcomes

Upon successful completion of this program, you will receive:

  • Following block credit rules, recognition of up to six VCE Units. Credits accrue in the following sequence; 1, 2, 3, 4, 3 and 4 
  • ATAR contribution: if you receive a VCE VET Units 3 and 4 sequence you may be eligible for an increment towards your ATAR 
  • Certificate III in Design Fundamentals qualification

Dress code and course materials

  • USB removable flash drive for backing up / transferring files (from 4GB to 8GB)
  • A4 Spiral Bound Visual Diary

Assessment is based on

    • Questioning
    • Observations and practical demonstrations 
    • Product (reports, projects, role plays etc.)
