This course is designed for high school students as part of VETDSS. If you’ve finished school or are looking to upskill, explore our Game Design course for a full qualification.

Entry requirements

  • Attending a secondary school.
  • Applicants are required to be aged 15 years and over.
  • Literacy and numeracy level equivalent to the successful completion of Year 10.
  • Review the personal learning requirements essential to this course and discuss with your school VET Coordinator before you apply.

You will learn

  • Apply creative design processes to develop 2D and 3D game concepts and assets.
  • Create characters, environments and visual components for game design projects.
  • Develop 2D and 3D digital animations using industry-standard software.
  • Design interactive gameplay experiences and create content for digital media.
  • Build teamwork, communication and critical thinking skills within a creative studio environment.

Course outcomes

Upon successful completion of this program, you will receive:

  • Recognition of up to two VCE VET units at Units 1 and 2 level, and a VCE VET Units 3 and 4 sequence.
  • ATAR contribution: If you receive a VCE VET Units 3 and 4 sequence you may be eligible for an increment towards your ATAR. 
  • Certificate III in Screen and Media qualification.

  • USB removable flash drive for backing up / transferring files (from 4GB to 8GB) 
  • A4 Spiral Bound Visual Diary $4.95

Assessment is based on

  • Questioning
  • Observations and practical demonstrations
  • Product (reports, projects, role plays etc)
