Course description

*At the completion of this VETDSS course students will gain a partial qualification only.

Do you have a young person aged 15 or over with special learning needs or learning difficulties? This unique program is designed to give the support and skills needed to gain employment or progress onto further study. It also offers students the opportunity to meet and interact with new people, build confidence and further their language and communication skills. ​When you complete the course, you may gain credit towards your VCE.

Work placement/industry experience

The sourcing of placement will be the joint responsibility of the secondary school, the student and the Local Learning and Employment Network.

The Gordon is committed to ensuring all students have access to the educational and support services they may need while studying. We do this by carrying out a pretraining review that is integrated with the application and enrolment process. For most courses, this review also includes a short literacy and numeracy assessment relevant to the course. The outcomes of the pretraining review assist our teachers and trainers to better understand each student’s capabilities prior to training and enable all students to be matched to the right program for them.

Applicants are expected to have an appropriate literacy and numeracy level equivalent to the successful completion of year 9.
