What is a school-based apprentice and traineeship (SBAT)?

An SBAT offers students the option of combining VCE or VCAL with part-time employment and training. The Gordon offers more than 20 qualifications that can be studied by school-based apprentices or trainees. If you don’t see an SBAT course of interest to you, please enquire as we may be able to create an SBAT course tailored to your interests.

Student story

“I’m a commercial roof plumber, yet I am learning all the skills associated with other plumbing trades. This is making me a better tradesperson. It’s one of the great things about training at The Gordon, you learn all the key skills you need for your industry. So even though I am in the third year of my apprentice, I’m still learning something new every day.

I’ve been well supported by my teachers throughout my apprenticeship too, and with first class facilities, the simulated training really supports my development on the job. My aspirations are to continue studying with The Gordon and complete a Certificate IV in Building and Construction."

Reace Curnow, Certificate III in Plumbing
