Apprenticeships & traineeships

Apprenticeships and traineeships are a great way to combine paid work with structured training. Leading to a nationally recognised qualification and valuable industry skills, an apprenticeship or traineeship can set you up for your chosen career.

TAFE apprenticeships and traineeships can be completed part-time or full-time. The Gordon works with employers, apprentices and trainees to customise training to suit specific workplaces through the development of an Individual Training Plan. We also help deliver and assess your training both in the workplace and on-campus at The Gordon.

Every apprentice and trainee must have a business willing to employ them and a Training Contract, organised through a local Australian Apprenticeship Support Network.

School Based Apprenticeship and Traineeship (SBAT)
You can get a head start on your apprenticeship while studying at secondary school with a School-based Apprenticeship and Traineeship . You need a business to employ you as an apprentice and your school to provide consent and support. Generally you need to be aged 16 years or over and have completed Year 10. Find out more about SBAT here.

Alternate pathways to completing secondary school
Our alternate pathways to completing secondary school offer a unique program for Year 10  - Year 12 students, combining trade training and work experience that leads to apprenticeship opportunities.

Visit the Department of Education and Training Victoria Apprenticeships and Traineeships for detailed information about training types and industries, wages and financial assistance.
