The Gordon's Policy Commitment

The Gordon will develop and provide quality training and education which meets the needs of industry and the community. To do this The Gordon has committed itself to meeting our regulatory requirements as under the VET Quality Framework.

Customer service is our guiding principle. We value our customers and endeavour to listen, act, and respond immediately to feedback from them. We are committed to the professional development of our staff to enable them to anticipate and meet our customers’ needs. 


The following Gordon policies provide students and stakeholders with guidance on some key legislative obligations

RTO Registrati​on 

The Gordon (Gordon Institute of TAFE) is a registered training organisation (RTO No 3044) under the National Vocational Education and Training Regulator Act 2011 to provide accredited courses and to award, confer or issue the recognised qualifications Iisted on its scope of registration. CRICOS Registr​ation 

The Gordon (Gordon Institute of TAFE) is approved to deliver courses to overseas students in the State of Victoria and registered on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS) code: 00011G.

Regulatory Au​thorities 

From the 1 July 2011, The Gordon’s regulatory body for vocational education and training (VET) and CRICOS (VET and ELICOS programs) is the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) under the National Vocational Education and Training Regulator Act 2011. The Gordon’s regulatory body for senior secondary courses (VCE, VCAL & ESOS) and higher education courses is the Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority (VRQA). Further details are available at the VRQA website: vrqa.vic.gov.au

Compliance Fram​ework and Standards 

The Gordon is required to comply with the requirements set out in the VET Quality Framework which comprises:  the Standards for NVR Registered Training Organisations (replaces the former AQTF standards)

  • the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF)
  • the Data Provision Requirements
  • the Fit and Proper Person Requirements
  • the Financial Viability Risk Assessment Requirements.

The Act also provides for Standards for VET Accredited Courses, which are in addition to the VET Quality Framework.

Principles and Practice of​ Australian Democracy

The Gordon supports and promotes the principles and practices of Australian democracy in all its operations and behaviours. These democratic principles are reflected in The Gordon's policies, procedures and service standards. 

These democratic principles include a commitment to:

  • the values of openness and tolerance.

The Gordon, on occasion, may seek specialist knowledge and skills it deems necessary to support its operations and, in doing so, engage external consultants to support strategic objectives, change management or continuous improvement.
