Study opens doors to worldly career
"Studying a Diploma of Beauty Therapy has opened many doors for me," said Kendall Salo, owner of Atico Beauty in Barwon Heads and successful alumni of The Gordon.
Introduced to The Studio at The Gordon as a client where her sisters were undertaking a beauty course, Kendall was blown away with the knowledge, skills and professionalism of the salon and immediately knew she wanted to be a part of it.
Completing her training, Kendall immediately found a position at a Geelong beauty salon.
“I worked for an amazing company for three years and then applied for beauty therapy positions in the UK. I worked in the UK for a further three years, gaining a wealth of knowledge and experience in the field and decided I wanted to get into training, and I also wanted to work for myself,” said Kendall.
“I returned to The Gordon in 2015 to study the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, and not too further down the track, I secured a training role at The Gordon. I absolutely loved my job, training and assessing up and coming beauty therapists. Then, in 2018, an opportunity to open a beauty salon in Barwon Heads came about and I jumped on it - Ático Beauty is in now her 6th year,” continued Kendall.
A typical day at Ático Beauty is making clients feel confident and the best version of themselves.
“The most rewarding aspects of my job are watching my clients float out on cloud nine and leave the salon with more confidence than what they walked in with,” said Kendall.
Kendall agrees that Running a business is hard work and you have to be dedicated. It is also rewarding and allows her to live the life she wants. For that, she thanks The Gordon.
“For me, The Gordon laid down the crucial foundations for me to learn, create and evolve within the industry. Now, my Future career goals include expanding my team and expanding my current salon into a beauty hub. I’m always on the lookout for a town that needs a good beauty salon, so watch this space!” shared Kendall.
