Interior design delivers big ideas!

Sara Keranen_Gordon Interior Design studentThe Gordon’s interior design course is preparing students for the international stage by unlocking their creative talents and exposing them to global concepts.

Sara Keranen, who completed a Certificate IV and Diploma of Interior Design at The Gordon, was amazed at the quality of the teaching and the industry exposure.

“The Gordon’s interior design courses inspire students to learn the ways of industry. The quality of the teaching is incredible, sourcing international trends whilst being down to earth and meeting the standards needed in Australia. What you learn the most is how to extend yourself”, explained Sara.

Both courses give students the skills and knowledge to design and document interiors for residential and commercial buildings. It is very hands-on with many site visits, project work and industry networking opportunities to expand learnings, grow connections and graduate job-ready.

The Certificate IV forms the first year of the diploma course, so you can choose to complete one or two qualifications depending on your career goals. Upon completion of the diploma, you’ll also meet the minimum industry requirements to work as an interior designer decorator.

As part of her course work, Sara completed an amazing animation of The Gordon City Campus, School of Excellence in Design.

"This project showed current trends in educational premises and how to combine the old with the new. Each step of the process culminated in the finished design being the animations and documentation, with my big ideas translated to a small screen."
