Course description

The Certificate III Mumgu-dhal tyama-tiyt community, connection and pathways continues on from the Certificate II program. Students will learn out on country as well as in the classroom, strengthening their knowledge of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander culture, history and contemporary influence, develop leadership skills in their community and access further study career options. The program enables the development of leadership skills to participate more fully in community activities and develop vocational and study skills to pathway into further training, study or employment. Programs such as Mumgu-dhal tyama-tiyt provide scaffolded learning for young mob, supporting them to build core skills, confidence and readiness through hands-on, relational and culturally connected learning experiences.

Work placement/industry experience



Duration & Structure

Practical placement is a minimum of 50 hours.
Placement will be delivered 1 day per week for 1 semester for 5 hours a day.

Location 

Location may include a variety of industries and locations depending on student’s passion, interests and choice, guided by Gordon teachers and placement staff. Examples of placement opportunities could be Early Childhood, Mechanic workshop, Hospitality- café.

*Placement is not paid work and student will not receive payment for undertaking practical placement.

Entrance requirements

  • This course is for young First Peoples so all applicants must be under 18 years of age at the time of course commencement.
  • Students under the age of 17 must provide a Transition from School form prior to undertaking this course, unless they have completed Year 12 or an equivalent qualification (AQF Level II or above), in which case a school exemption is not required.

If you have previously completed any of the units of competency relevant to this course, you may be eligible for Credit Transfer (CT).
