Course description

Diploma of Remedial Massage – Part-time Clinical training two evenings a week + one afternoon tutorial

Develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to become a qualified remedial massage therapist through a flexible part-time program designed to fit around work and life commitments.

Learn a wide range of massage techniques, including relaxation, therapeutic, sports and remedial massage, while developing skills in postural assessment, client consultation and treatment planning.

Gain valuable hands-on experience through 200 hours of supervised clinical practice in The Gordon Student Massage Clinic, where you will work with real clients in a simulated industry environment. Through a blend of online learning, interactive tutorials and practical workshops, you will build expertise in anatomy and physiology, massage theory, medical terminology, client communication, business practice and ethical healthcare delivery.

Upon successful completion, you may be eligible to apply for membership with relevant peak massage industry associations.

Possible career outcomes

Additional Attendance Requirements

To successfully participate in this course, learners must:

Use a laptop or tablet to access course materials, participate in online learning activities, complete assessments and engage with Gordon Online
Do weekly evening online classes, daytime tutorials and weekly afternoon and evening Clinic practical sessions provide flexibility while supporting the development of industry-ready skills
Have access to a suitable device and a reliable internet connection
Possess sufficient digital literacy skills to:
- Access and navigate online resources and the simulated workplace environment
- Submit assessment tasks electronically
- Communicate effectively with teachers via email, the student portal, and the Learning Management System (LMS)

Tuesday 5.00pm to 8.30pm (On-campus)
Wednesday 12.00pm to 1.30pm (Online)
Thursday 1.00pm to 8.30pm (On-campus)
Wednesday 9:00am - 12:00pm and 1:30pm - 5:00pm (Online) timetabled supervised study, tutorial and assessment support sessions

Work placement/industry experience

Duration & Structure	200 Hours of Clinical Massage work. Held on campus at The Gordon Student
Additional Information	** Work placement is not required; however, a mandatory 200 hours of clinical massage work must be completed.

Entrance requirements

Applicants must be 18 years of age at the commencement of the course.
Applicants are expected to have literacy skills at Year 12 or Australian Core Skills Framework Level 4 and numeracy skills at Year 11 or Australian Core Skills Framework Level 3.

Apprenticeship and traineeship requirements

Apprenticeship and traineeship applicants must be currently employed under a training contract and referred by their employer.

Pre-training review

Each student must complete a pre-training review as part of their application. The outcome of your pre-training review assists our teachers and trainers to better understand your capabilities prior to training and enables you to be matched to the right program. Your literacy and numeracy skills will be evaluated and you may be required to undertake a separate assessment. Follow this link for more information about literacy and numeracy skills.

In order to prepare for your LLN, you may wish to attempt some practise tests in which you will find similar questions (with solutions too). These practice tests are not VSL approved but may be similar in question type and level of difficulty to what may be asked in the VSL approved LLN. Click here for practice tests. If you have previously completed any of the units of competency relevant to this course, you may be eligible for Credit Transfer (CT).
