Course description

This program utilises project-based learning based on contemporary SOC/SIEM and enterprise networking and network security components, including red and blue-team monitoring, incident response, and ethical hacking tools and techniques.  

Participant’s design, build, test and verify enterprise systems, security policies and SOC processes in project teams, developing job-ready capability aligned to industry practice. 

Graduates of the course will have the requisite skills and knowledge to be able to seek employment as cyber security experts in a range of commercial enterprises/organisations and government bodies.

Additional attendance information

The course is delivered 100% online with evening classes, supporting participation by employed learners and those who require flexible delivery (including regional learners). Students will require a stable Internet connection, as well as a computing device which satisfies the following: 

  • 16 GB minimum of RAM
  • 1TB of storage
  • A camera and a microphone for online participation 

Entrance requirements

  • Applicants are expected to have literacy at Year 11 or Year 12 or Australian Core Skills Framework Level 4 and numeracy skills numeracy skills at Year 11 or Year 12 or Australian Core Skills Framework Level 3.
  • There are no formal entry requirements for the Diploma of Information Technology, However, The Gordon recommends completing Certificate IV in Cyber Security or Information Technology as part of the study pathway.
  • Applicants may also be considered with recent, relevant ICT industry experience (typically at least 2 years), such as in networking, systems administration, or technical support.

If you have previously completed any of the units of competency relevant to this course, you may be eligible for Credit Transfer (CT).
