Course Overview

This 12-hour program, licensed by Mental Health First Aid Australia, equips adults with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to recognise, understand and respond to a friend, family member, co-worker, or another adult, experiencing a mental health problem or mental health crisis.  The course is delivered by a MHFA Licensed Trainer and Gordon Teacher.

  • Date / Time: Wednesday 17 & Thursday 18 December from 9am to 4pm each day (including breaks)
  • Bring: Pen, water bottle, optional snacks (tea & coffee provided)
  • Pre-course work: None required
  • Cost: $148

Day One

  • Mental illnesses: risk factors, prevalence, impact
  • MHFA Action Plan
  • Depression: signs, symptoms, interventions
  • Anxiety: first aid and crisis response
  • Psychosis: signs, symptoms, interventions

Day Two

  • Substance use problems: signs, symptoms, interventions
  • Crisis first aid for severe effects and aggressive behaviour
  • Practical application of MHFA Action Plans
